For the last couple of months I’ve been working on updating it to something much more than a list of recipes. Now, after much work and producing hundreds of photos, it is released in the App Store under the new name Pizza Americana [iTunes, $2.99], which is Italian for American Pizza.

I call this a pizza cookbook because it has the usual things found in a cookbook; recipes, glossary, chapters, etc. But unlike cookbooks Pizza Americana takes advantage of the iPhone’s touchscreen interface to deliver step-by-step preparation guides. Simply swipe the screen to move to the next step. It works great sitting on your counter or kitchen table while making preparations.

Each step shows an illustrative photo with concise instructions in a large, easy to read font. Units of measure can easily be switched between english and metric with a single tap. This interface was developed and refined through practical use, meaning we worked with it ourselves almost daily in developing Pizza Americana. It has been through many iterations and polished to where it now works nice, very nice.

Twenty five recipes are included in the cookbook for pizza, dough, and sauce. There’s a tremendous amount of work involved in producing each step-by-step guide so not all recipes have the guide. In this first release there are ten step-by-step guides and ultimately there’ll be a guide for each recipe.

An interesting note for all those wondering how to add a link to Twitter. Here’s how you do it: add the full URL (the http://www… thing) to the update and Twitter automatically converts it to a tinyurl link, something like http://tinyurl.com/deoh6g.

Ambience has quickly become a popular app with iPhone users. The sound quality is amazing. The innovative home screen fades the controls so that the beautiful background images come to the fore and enhance the ambient effect.

But we didn’t go all the way with our first release. We didn’t fade all the controls completely out of the way.

In this version 1.2 release we minimize the controls on the home screen during play so you get maximum effect.

An update to DayTrack has been released and should be available through iTunes within a few days. Version 1.1 introduces new features, improves usability, and addresses several software bugs.

What’s new in this version

• Added the ability to email tasks.
• Improved usability by integrating the Calendar into the Today view. This also allowed us to remove the calendar tab to clean up the bottom tab bar a bit.
• Improved the Today navigation button layout.
• Bug fixes relating to memory leaks.
• Fixed bug which could cause Today counter data loss while switching between categories.

Neither of these issues affect Phoxware products for iPhone and iPod Touch. This update is not required by Phoxware at this time.
